Jjapaguri with Steak aka Ram-don

Jjapaguri was made famous by the Korean movie Parasite. This noodle dish is a combination of 2 of Korea's popular instant noodles Chapaghetti and Neoguri. This dish is also called Ram-don, which suggests a combo of ramen and udon from both of the instant noodles. In the movie, they added steak to this noodle dish which showed that the family was very wealthy in Korea. This elevated meal is flavorful, spicy, and saucy. It's also very easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 6-8 oz Beef (sirloin, strip steak, tenderloin, beef round ..etc)

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 pack Neoguri

  • 1 pack Chapaghetti

  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut beef into small bite sized cubes. Season it with salt & pepper. Let it sit for 30 minutes. In a pan, heat 2 Tbsp olive oil on high. Sear beef until brown then flip over. Cook until desired doneness.

  2. Boil water in a pot. Add neoguri & chapaghetti noodles and vegetable package; cook for 3 minutes. When done, reserve 1 cup of water from the pot. Drain noodles.

  3. Now that the pot is empty, add both seasoning packets & pour in the reserved water slowly to dissolve the seasoning. (The amount of water depends on how saucy you want your noodles. We used about 3/4 cup)

  4. Add cooked noodles and steak to the pot and vigorously mix well with the sauce until everything is coated. Enjoy!
